Studying has become a wonderful journey.

Hello!

I am currently studying at university. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

So far, the thing I have worked hardest on is learning Japanese and Japanese Sign Language, which is usually called “Nihon Shuwa.” (日本手話)

When I was a child, I loved studying languages, and I wanted to learn other languages, but I didn’t have the money. When I entered university, I started studying English. After that, since I loved Japanese, I asked about Japanese courses, but the university didn’t offer any.

In 2020, when the pandemic started, our lives suddenly changed. I found out about a website called “Margoto” through the embassy’s site and signed up.

Since then, learning Japanese has become my dream. However, the more I studied, the harder it seemed. I told myself, “Don’t give up!” One day, when I came back from the doctor’s office, I felt frustrated. I began to lose my hearing. So, I started to research Japanese Sign Language and began studying by watching YouTube videos. I will not give up. I want to become fluent in Japanese. Even if I can’t hear, I believe I can communicate in sign language.

Remembering words has always been a bit difficult for me, and when I speak, I get frustrated if I can’t recall a word. One day, when I was at home, I heard something about the abacus. The person on TV said, “If you use your fingers while memorizing, you will remember faster.” I thought that if I practiced both Japanese and sign language at the same time, I might be able to learn words faster. By doing this, I started to memorize words more quickly, which made me very happy.

When I practice and study, it becomes easier to remember words, and I gain more confidence in both Japanese and Japanese Sign Language.

I am very satisfied to have had this experience. No dream is easy to achieve, but when it is difficult, we must keep working hard. This is what I am working hard for.

Thank you, everyone for reading!
